S.M.I.L.E. OT was founded in 2003 by an ​occupational therapist who wanted to provide services to children who weren't able to qualify for special education or therapy at school, but exhibited sensory and motor delays or attentional difficulties.  S.M.I.L.E. OT recognizes that families often struggle with how to help their children and that they might not have the resources or know who to turn to when they have questions. Families that have used services through S.M.I.L.E. OT have expressed gratitude for the help that they have received with their children in both home and school settings.
